News Update - February 2019

Read up on the results of the household and business surveys. Download the reports - they make interesting reading!

1) Survey Results

It was lovely to see you so many of you at our recent coffee mornings, and to have the chance to talk about what you have told us in the household survey, and to let you know about our next steps towards the draft Neighbourhood Development Plan for this community.

Many thanks to all the councillors and volunteers who came along to help and serve coffee on what thankfully were 2 sunny mornings. For those who could not make the meetings, or those who wish to look at the results in more detail, the completed Business survey report, Household survey report and list of comments are posted here.

2) Evidence reports

The volunteers have completed reports on our Environment, Business, Traffic and transport issues, and a Social report is well on its way to being completed. We are awaiting the results of our government funded reports on what housing needs and numbers and what types of houses we need to sustain the community.

We appreciate that a proportion of you wanted no more development, but it is inevitable we will need some in the next 20 years in order to be sustainable, allowing older people to remain here, and the younger generations to find a home. The purpose of the plan is to ensure the community has some input into how many, where they are and what type of residences they are.

We have also asked Wychavon for an indication of the number of houses they would be likely to allocate to this parish in the South Worcestershire development Plan review which is currently being undertaken. We are also awaiting another government funded report on design. This is in order that our plan offers guidance on what the homes should look like in order that they complement the existing architectural styles.

3) Site surveys

20 sites have been submitted by landowners for possible future development, 19 via Wychavon’s call for sites and the allotment site direct to Toad. I must emphasise, not all these sites will be built on! One of the comments left at the coffee morning suggested the writer thought this to be the case.

The sites can be seen on-line at: swdp.addresscafe.com/app/exploreit/default.aspx You will need to zoom into Ombersley and Doverdale on the map, and draw a square around the area. In the first drop down box, drop to ‘search for planning information on the map’, and in the second on the map drop down to SHELAA Wychavon. Sorry, it is quite a performance!

Toad has commissioned its own independent assessment of all of these sites to assess which ones are the most suitable for any development.

4) Funding

We are pleased to say so far we have covered all the work within the budget of our Locality and Lottery grants, notwithstanding the help of some very willing volunteers. We will be reapplying for further Locality grant funding at the end of March in order to complete the draft plan.

Sue CollierWe will keep you informed of our further progress, and thank you for your messages of encouragement.

With kind regards

Calling all Volunteers

If you feel that you would like to help, we need volunteers. The Parish Council cannot do this by themselves.  We need help with planning, communications, secretarial support, data analysis, IT and graphic design, and we will need help for manning drop-ins, coffee mornings, leaflet posting, photography and so on.

Everyone welcome!
